National Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month

February is National Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month.  Teen dating violence is a prevalent, but often silent epidemic in our country. Recent studies have shown that 1 in 3 teen girls have been in a serious relationship where they've feared being physically hurt by their partner. 1 in 4 teens have been in a serious relationship where their partner has been emotionally controlling/abusive, including trying to isolate the teen from their family and friends. Break the Cycle and the National Dating Abuse Helpline have collaborated to create loveisrespect.org. This website and hotline offer great resources and information for teens and anyone with a teen in their life.
